Ballasts out of fluorescent lamp fixtures should be brought to Wild Cat Solid Waste District.  Ballasts manufactured before 1978 contain PCBs (Polyclorinated biphenyls) which can cause cancer and pose several other health risks.  Ballasts manufactured after 1978 do not contain PCBs but should still be brought to Wild Cat Solid Waste District so they can be recycled.
